Popularity Eludes Wall Street Firms
Harris interactive has recently released a poll on corporate reputation, according to an article in Market Watch, which essentially says that America hates Wall Street. Five of the ten worst reputations in corporate America are Wall Street firms, headed by American International Group (AIG). The other Wall Street firms in order from despicable to least despised were Goldman Sachs (GS), Citigroup (C), Bank of America (BAC) and JP Morgan (JPM). The non-financial firms in the same order were BP, Chrysler, General Motors, Exxon Mobil and Delta Airlines.
The public is mad at Wall Street because of the bailouts initiated by their own wrongdoings but also because of the predatory ways these firms have dealt with their own customers for years, which has been further brought to light during the “robo-signing” of mortgage loan documents and wrongful foreclosures.
