157 Banks Were Shuttered in 2010

After 157 banks were shut down by the FDIC last year, the first two closures of 2011 were the First Commercial Bank of Florida, based in Orlando, and The Legacy Bank, based in Scottsdale, according to an Associated Press news article. The 157 closures by the FDIC in 2010 exceeded 140 closures in 2009 and, were the most since the savings and loan crisis two decades ago.
